Behold the Valley of the Dolls!

by David Mansour

I created this page to periodically showcase one of my Barbie (and other dolls) photo pieces I'm particularly proud of, along with the back story of the doll and the photo shoot.

Sparkle, Barbie, Sparkle!

"Sharon Tate in Behold the Valley of the Dolls"
(Shot June 11, 2019)

It took me weeks to pull this photograph together.  I had to find a look-alike Barbie to reimagine as Sharon Tate.  I cut her hair and styled it similar to Sharon's (including flat-ironing it 1960s straight).  I searched for the perfect mod mini-dress to represent Sharon's iconic fashion style and paired it with black go-go boots.  The pills are a nod to her best-known film, Valley of the Dolls.  ("Dolls" is 1960s Hollywood slang for pills.). This summer marks the 50th anniversary of Sharon's untimely death.  I've been a fan of her for just as long.  This photograph is my valentine to Sharon Tate.  ❤️
